Choosing a

The
above drop-down menu of University at Albany majors contains links to
sample occupations, potential employers/internship sites, and resources
for more information.
IMPORTANT
NOTE
Most
college majors don't offer preparation specific to a single type of
work. Choice of a major is only one factor in determining your career
path. Your experiences (i.e., jobs, extracurricular activities,
volunteer work, internships), the electives you choose, and the skills
you acquire often tell employers more about what you have to offer them
than your major alone. For example, a Biology major can pursue a
webmaster career if he/she has HTML, Java, & Photoshop skills.
Similarly, an English major can pursue a career in radio as long
as he/she completed an internship at a radio station.
The
information here by no means represents all opportunities for a
particular major, but can help you begin to identify various options.
